Progress & Possibilities ’07 Juried Exhibit Winners

 Best in Show - Lynne Ann SchwarzenbergThe National Polymer Clay Guild is proud to announce the winners in “Progress & Possibilities ‘07”, our third international juried exhibition, which was open to all NPCG members. Submitted work must have been completed between April 2005 and March 2007, not previously published and not previously submitted to a “Progress & Possibilities” exhibit. The selected works will be mounted on the NPCG website gallery and included in a show catalog.

Many thanks to our jurors , Carol Duvall, Barbara McGuire, and Elise Winters who scored each piece on:

  • Overall artistic merit
  • Originality of idea
  • Workmanship
  • Difficulty of execution

The five highest scoring works of art in each category are accepted into the exhibit. The three highest scoring works in each category are also awarded First, Second and Third, with the highest scoring piece overall named Best of Show.

Categories

All entries were at least ½ polymer clay (except where noted) and were original and not the product of a class, book, video or tutorial.

Personal embellishments - including jewelry, buttons, purses, and anything wearable

Figurative sculpture - including human, fantasy, animal figures, and masks

Non-figurative sculpture - including home decor, lamps, frames, etc.

Containers, vessels, boxes, vases, baskets, bottles, bowls - anything that might contain something else

Dolls – must be at least 1/8 polymer clay

Miniatures

Beads and bead sets - any object or related sets that are pierced by a hole, not finished jewelry

Alternative use - polymer clay used in place of traditional materials, prints, paint, wood, ceramic, etc.

Mixed media - including journals, fabric arts and other work not falling into other categories

Exhibit catalog

An exhibit catalog will be published after the web gallery is mounted. Award winners will be provided one free copy and artists whose work was accepted into the show will be able to purchase one copy at a reduced rate. The catalog will be available to others and guilds at an individual price or a reduced rate for a quantity order. To help provide financial support for the production costs of the exhibit catalog, advertising space will be available for polymer clay-related businesses and artists.
