Suzie Sullivan

Location

Ireland

About the Artist: Suzie Sullivan

Suzie Sullivan's lifelong passion for craft work began as a child in Cheshire in the UK, with stitching, knitting and crocheting. Throughout her life she has always had hobby projects on the go but could only have dreamt where it would lead. She has always had a fascination for Ireland and all things Irish and moved to Mayo in 2001 with her husband Steve. She loves what Ireland has to offer - music, culture and the wide open spaces - and all of this is reflected in her work. She is now known throughout Ireland and beyond for her work in fibre art, especially felt and silk paper making. She has achieved several RDS national craft awards and has had her work exhibited in solo, collaboration and group exhibitions. She has also shared her knowledge by giving innovative workshops in a wide range of craft skills from her studio. Suzie is a self-taught artist and embraces the challenge of working with new materials and disciplines such as flame worked glass, polymer clay, wire, bead and copper work.

Sara Amrhein

Location

Firenze
Italy

About the Artist: Sara Amrhein

My name is Sara Amrhein and I am an American artist living in Florence Italy. I have been working in polymer since 2009. As a jewelry artist, I specialize in fun, colorful, and often romantic statement pieces, with an emphasis on necklaces and earrings. Much of my work is inspired by historic costume and floral symbolism. With an eye on the opulence of the Renaissance, more is more philosophy, and modern-day fashion, my designs are for the bold and adventurous woman who is a romantic at heart. Over the years I have participated in countless fairs, jewelry shows, and markets. My work was published in the 2016 edition of Polymer Clay Journey's and I have sold my designs internationally in boutiques in the United States, the UK, Belgium, Japan, and Italy. I have also had three workshops with storefronts of my own here in the city of Florence, where I not only sold my work directly to the public but where I also conducted numerous workshops and hosted internships for both local and study abroad students from all over the world.

Melinda Puho

Location

California
United States

About the Artist: Melinda Puho

Melinda was born in the ancient land of Transylvania (Romania), in the Carpathian mountains. Since her childhood, she felt a deep spiritual connection with the astonishing beauty of the natural world that surrounded her. She started drawing from the moment she held a pencil in her hands and started playing the piano at the age of 5. She always felt much more mature than her age and her wish for artistic expression and for seeking the Truth was her companion even after her parents moved her to Hungary when she was 11, after the revolution that brought an end to the 42 years of communist rule in Romania. These early hardships helped her understood that her life and talents have a purpose, and her aim became to elevate the consciousness of the other souls who resonate with her art and music. Artist Bio In college, she met her creative partner, who shared a very similar view of the world and a very close artistic mindset. They decided to immigrate to the US to fulfill their childhood dreams of sharing with the world their unique creative vision. After going through the challenges in their new country, they started their business 'WizArts' in 2016, selling their hand-sculpted, one-of-a-kind art jewelry. Since 2017 WizArts has been exhibiting at various juried art shows throughout California. Melinda is entirely self-taught through experimentation and the development of her own unique techniques, including clay appliqué using her handmade glow-in-the-dark polymer clay. She believes that dreams shape our reality and art is what elevates the consciousness into new, unknown dimensions. For her, Art is the most personal, most intimate form of self-expression that is the only way to touch the soul of the other person in a way that you cannot do otherwise in this material world.

About: The Phoenix is a powerful spiritual symbol, as it represents immortality, the renewal through transformation. After its "death", the Phoenix regenerates and gains a new life as it arises from its ashes. It overcomes darkness, and as the sun, it "dies" in setting each night, to be reborn in rising again the next morning. PROCEDURE: I sculpted, formed, shaped and carved every small detail by hand, based on my own design.
