Please join us for an intensive, technique driven workshop creating
mixed media mosaics using polymer clay. In creating our “Icons”, students will
learn a variety of overlapping techniques that include: mosaic design,
painting, rubber stamping, collage, embossing, beading, and embedding just
about anything into polymer clay. The
result will be a personal and beautiful icon that can be hung on the wall or
displayed on a plate stand. Techniques learned in this class can also be used
to make jewelry.
This will be a hands-on workshop where students will get the experience of making and baking their own tiles and component parts. No previous clay experience is required, so come join the fun!

Ronna S. Weltman Workshop in Houston, TX
Saturday, March 26, 2011 4:00 am - Sunday, March 27, 2011 7:59 pm
The Houston Polymer Clay Guild is excited to announce that we will host much sought after artist, Ronna Sarvas Weltman on March 26-27, 2011. We are fortunate to have her and urge those of you who can, to attend our 2-day workshop.
Take your polymer clay experience to the next level by combining wire and an organic look into your polymer clay jewelry and mixed media projects.
On the first day, we will explore many polymer clay techniques that can achieve the organic look that defines Ronna Sarvas Weltman work. Techniques will include marbling, texturing, carving, and techniques for increasing comfort and skill with color and pagination of polymer clay.
On the second day of the workshop students will explore more advanced skills, including the practical and aesthetic process of designing successful necklaces, bracelets, brooches, rings and earrings that combine polymer clay and wire. Students will learn how to make their own unique wire clasps and closures. Although the focus in this workshop will be on the creative process, students will have ample opportunities to make finished pieces if they wish.
This workshop is suitable for students with intermediate experience in polymer clay and for students who are beginners to wire work.
Go to Ronna’s website for examples of Ronna’s artistic vision and techniques www.ronnasarvasweltman.com

Jeff Dever Workshop in Santa Fe NM
Sunday, September 04, 2011 9:00 am - Thursday, September 08, 2011 9:00 am
A PERFECT UNION
When Wire Meets Clay
This four-day intensive workshop employs wire-working and polymer clay form building techniques to create innovative small-scale sculptural forms in jewelry. First we will fabricate wire frame armatures and then complete basket forms with a tinkered wire-wrapping technique. Next, we will create original polymer clay forms through staged clay layering and multi-cycle curing to complete pieces. Finally, we’ll explore finishing techniques with an emphasis on an array of surface ornamentation options. This is a technique workshop, not a project class; therefore all students should have a basic working knowledge of polymer clay.
