  • Ways to modify/control your clay for better caning results

  • Applying a painterly approach to component cane design (using new and old Skinner Blend techniques)

  • Component cane types, ranging from simple to detailed, and how to construct them (level of difficulty and types of canes will depend upon interest and experience of participants)

  • Strategies for complex cane design (how to use different cane types to create rhythm, balance, emphasis, contrast and flow in the master cane)

  • Constructing and reducing the master cane.

  • Slicing the cane with the “Simmons Slicer”

  • Information on how to store/transport/handle the slices.

  • Making and using angle templates

Sandy Camp XIII

All day

The 13th annual San Diego Polymer Clay Guide Sandy Camp will again be held at the Temecula Creek Inn October 5 - 9, 2011. This year's theme is “Trick And Treat”.  9 formal demos over the 5 days with tons of informal sharing.  Saturday evening is a big Family Feast outdoors in front of a manmade waterfall, followed by our infamous opportunity drawing. Come play, have fun with us and even go explore the Temecula Wine Country if you have time.
