About the Artist

Self taught, I first started working with polymer clay in 2010, after moving from the UK to live in New Zealand. In the process of learning, I have tried most techniques and made everything from jewelry and fashion accessories to wall art, sculptures and other decorative items. I now concentrate on creating mosaic art, both 2D and 3D, with my own hand-made polymer clay tiles. The benefit of using polymer clay is that I am not limited by color, size or shape, and I have developed my own signature mosaic style using round tiles.

Inspired by nature and color, particularly landscapes, flowers and New Zealand icons, I enjoy exhibiting and selling my work through local art events and craft markets. I have also given illustrated talks, demonstrations and workshops, to encourage others to discover the possibilities and pleasure of using polymer clay.

Polymer clay on MDF board

This polymer clay mosaic is titled "She Loved Yellow Flowers" because when my husband met my mother for the first time, he gave her a bouquet of yellow flowers. I remember my mother saying that yellow flowers were her favorite. Sadly my mother passed in November 2020 but whenever I look at this mosaic, or any other yellow flowers, I always think fondly of her.

Polymer clay on glass sphere

This polymer clay mosaic was my 'happy project' during the recent Covid lockdown. I hope these colorful letters make learning the alphabet fun. I certainly had great fun making this piece; creating Skinner blend sheets of polymer clay from which the letters were cut and then baked over a curved form. Once the letters were stuck on to the sphere base, I filled the remaining areas with my signature round mosaic tiles, and then finished off with black tile grout. Who says ABC can't be FUN, FUN, FUN?
